I’ve heard that those white strips work very well, however they’re not going to give you instant results. It takes several weeks to see results.

Every part of our bodies can react chemically. Your teeth has the ability to react to chemicals that you never can imagine. Be careful about what you eat or what you put on your teeth in order to bleach the teeth.

Will teeth whitening products work for me?

Question by : Will teeth whitening products work for me?
I would like to use whitening products such as the Crest whitening toothpaste, mouthwash, and strips. My only problem is that I had a chipped tooth a few years back, and had the dentist fix it. Will the products whiten my teeth along with the tooth filling? Or will it not whiten the filling at all, and my teeth will come out two-toned? Thanks in advance!

Best answer:

Answer by Dr Akhil
the filling will not get whitened so avoid the whitening products.

Q&A: What are the best products for teeth whitening?

Question by Doak: What are the best products for teeth whitening?
I was wondering what products are the best for teeth whitening?

First, what is a good whitening toothpaste?

Second, what is a good product to use for teeth whitening that doesn’t leave my teeth extremely sensitive? I have heard from multiple people that a lot of the whitening strips leave your teeth very sensitive. Anyone have any experience with a whitening product that does not leave you with extremely sensitive teeth after?

Q&A: bleaching trays…….?

Question by Sparkle: bleaching trays…….?
i got bleach and special bleaching trays made from the dentist…it cost about 300 dollars…but everyone knows teeth stain fast….i was curious…im out of the bleach so i was wondering if making a paste out of baking soda and peroxide and putting it in the tray and leaving that in for about 1 hour…once in a while would be ok?….would it kinda be the same as bleach….just to keep stains off my teeth….

Answer by Popsfav
It’s not actually bleach, more likely a percentage of carbomide peroxide. The true peroxide will irritate your gums, so I wouldn’t. Brushing w/ baking soda should be fine as long as the gel you used to whiten didn’t make your gums sensitive. Just look at the empty tubes or boxes the dentist gave you. You can buy virtually all of it on line for much less than the dentist charges. Plus, if you went through the whole whitening regime of a couple of weeks, your teeth are not going to stain THAT quickly. Sometimes your dentist will even give you a free touch up or maintenance kit that you use every 3-6 months for a few days to maintain your new white smile after the original whitening. In the meantime- no coffee, tea, colas, wine except through a straw placed behind your front teeth. I do that all of the time anyway. It’s great you are whitening your teeth. It’s the first thing I notice about anyone and it makes SUCH a difference.

How many days in a row should I use Opalescence whitening gel?

Question by gloop05: How many days in a row should I use Opalescence whitening gel?
When did whitening with Opalescence 15% gel a few years ago my dentist told me to wear them overnight for 2 weeks, then do it once or twice a month to help keep them white.

With the newer 35% gel it says not to use it longer than 30 minutes, but I’m curious as to how many days I should use it? 2 weeks like the 15%? Or will 1 week be okay?

Best answer:

Answer by kjw
I have not personally used the 35% for my patients, but generally speaking with bleaches, you want to follow the directions (in this case, no more than 30 min/day at a time), but use them as long as you need to (e.g., 1 to 2 to 3 weeks) to get the results you are after. You should ask your dentist though…the one who is supplying you with 35% kind. Also, you can decrease the frequency that you use them if you are getting too much sensitivity, e.g., every 2-3 days. You will still get the same result, but it will take more weeks.

Cosmetic Dentist?

Question by )tomorrow(: Cosmetic Dentist?
How many years, and how long does it take to become a cosmetic dentist? Any good schools? I’m planning on going to a 4-year college but i want to know what to do after that, or if I should take the full 4 years. Any tips from dentists? thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by thddspc
Any general dentist should be capable of doing cosmetic dentistry.. That’s why “cosmetic dentistry” is not recognized as a specialty by the American Dental Association.

To become a dentist in the USA, you need to either earn your Bachelors degree in a 4-year college then go to dental school, or go into a combined 7-year BA/DDS program.

While you are doing your Bachelors, you need to fulfill the pre-dental course requirements, take your DAT exam, and get good recommendation letters from your instructors (most of which needs to be science instructors). Then apply and get into a dental school.

There are only 53 dental schools in the USA, so they are all “good.” Which one you choose depends on your location and if the school fits your preferences and needs.

4 years of dental school later, you graduate with a DDS or DMD degree (same degree, just different letters) and you are a dentist.

Hope this helps.

Is teeth whitening safe your teeth aka your enamel etc?

Question by : Is teeth whitening safe your teeth aka your enamel etc?
I need websites etc to tell me also and professional info if possible.
Some say it does others say it perfectly safe and doesn’t harm your enamel.

Best answer:

Answer by Raquel
It can make your teeth sensitive. The whitening gel is a peroxide (not the over the counter peroxide). The gel dehydrates your teeth and that is how your teeth become whiter. The ONLY over the counter whitening I would recommend would be crest whitestrips. If you try whitening and your teeth become sensitive try it for half the amount of time and skip a day or two in between.
